Best day of my life!? a day on the green

The day finally arrived! I was excited to say the least. I had built this day up to be potentially the best day of my life and you know something it has to be said it most likely was.

The days proceedings kicked off at about 3pm with one of my favourite bands Mental as Anything. They churned out all their classic hits and didn't skip a beat which was pretty impressive considering it was like ten thousand degrees celcius on main stage. The crowd and I officially went crazy when they played live it up and the nips are getting bigger. I ended up putting my VIP pass to good use by getting a photo with the band....this photo will be going straight to the pool room.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better it clearly did. No it wasn't because I was onto my second bottle of wine by this stage but hey that helped. The main reason for my excitement was that The Proclaimers were on main stage. I found it hard to hide my excitement when they played 500 miles and I believe I was spotted with an invisible air guitar on a number of occasions. The crowd as a whole burst into one giant orgasm of pleasure which sure was a site to behold. I managed to get a rad as photo with Charlie too....rock on!

Finally, when I thought the day could not get any better, it did. 3 bottles of wine in the B-52's were on. Love shack and Rock Lobster never sounded so good and I was clearly working up a sweat Jane Fonda style.

All in all what a great day. My Reebok Pumps have never had such a workout. I strongly urge you if get the chance to go see all 3 of these bands in action, they rule!

Should he grow or should he not now?

To grow or not to grow that is the question. I've reached the point where one decides to grow his hair or to get the dreaded snip. I must say it was a sad day when I got my mullet of 3 years cut off. I do very much miss it, as do the ladies of course.

I've decided to create a pros and cons list to growing back my mullet.

Pros:
* The ladies love mullets
* Keeps me warm in the o so cold winter nights
* It makes me run faster....it's a fact, just like red cars go faster than all other cars.
* No costume needed when attending 80's parties.

Cons:
* Apparently mullets are for bogans? not too sure about this one though.
* Takes 1 hour of hair grooming each and every morning to get it looking just right...time well speat though if you ask me.
* Makes me look a tad bit feminine. However, it could be suggested I'm getting in touch with the woman inside me....apparently the ladies love this?!

I'll keep you posted as to what I decide....

Webster wannabe?

Yeah so I read the paper this morning and saw some kid in America had flown into the air in some balloon thing. My question is however was he just trying to copy Webster's heroics of the late 80's? I would have to go as far as suggesting yes, he also resembles the great Webster too. Here's the proof.......

dust paradise

Yeah so we thought the world was coming to an end. However, this wasn't to be the case, it proved to a dust storm. Apparently, it was the worst one we've had here in Brisbane Town for over 30 years. It sure made for some good camera shots. Here's some of our favourites:

Could this be the greatest concert of all time?

So I recently received VIP tickets to quite possibley the greatest concert of all time. I had to rub my eyes a couple of times when I saw the lineup of bands.....Mental as Anything, The Proclaimers and the B-52's. I'm excited to say the least.

Having recently only just seen Mental as Anything at last years Expo 88 20th anniversary I am more than keen to see them in action again. As for the the Proclaimers well their Sunshine on Leith was the first album I purchased as a youngster all the way back in 1988. The B-52's, Love shack baby! enough said.

So this Summer is looking to be a great one on the band front. Unfortunately for those eager to get their tickets this concert has only just recently sold out. Roll on November!

hey dad! greatest show ever?

Was Hey Dad the greatest tv show ever to hit our tv screens? I'd like to suggest yes. But who was the funniest and most likeable character on the show? For me it really had to be Nudge. The man was a true Aussie legend and was quite clearly the funniest man this country has ever seen. Some of his one liners were simply briliant.

On the other hand however there was Betty. Clearly not the brightest light in the harbour but still pulled out the funnies show after show afer show.

Why are we asking these questions I hear you ask? well to honour the greatness of the show we have decided to make a hey dad t-shirt in some capacity. Take the poll on our homepage so we can find out who was your favourite character from the show. Watch some of hey dad here: ">

Free publicity woohoooooooo!

Thanks for the free publicity Mr Vintage! we at klub retro love a good publicity stunt and this one has been a master stroke. The new website launch contained a lot of initial similarities to their website which we intended in order to stir their proverbial pot. (You'll notice a lot of these similarities disappear over the weeks to come as we put our own stamp on our website which was always our intention.)

We'll from here on in let our product do the talking but we love it when a good plan comes together. We have seen our hits go from 500 a day to literally being tripled over night. We all know any publicity is good publicity as we made our very own appearance on their blog check it out: http://www.mrvintage.co.nz/Blog.html

If it wasn't for snak pack- get stuffed?

Okay so we were thinking about our favourite 80s Australian adverts. So many came to mind but for me only really really stood out...yes that's two reallys. It was in fact the snak pack advert. You know the one where the kid says 'if it wasn't for snak pack get stuffed!?' Well that's what I always thought the kid was saying but it turns out that wasn't in fact the case. It was in fact 'if it wasn't for snak pack a kid'd starve!'.

Anyway, I remember all the cool kids ate snak packs and as soon as you saw them eating it you'd spew out the line ' if it wasn't for snak pack a kid'd starve'. Ah the memories, you just don't get ad's like this one anymore.

a change is as good as a holiday

Yeah so we're not going on a holiday. Sad for us no doubt. However, the good news is that we're changing or evolving if you will. You may have noticed the new website pop up last week. We're thinking it's looking quite sharp and are happy with how it's turned out. There's still more changes to come with a whole stack of new tees etc. But that'll be later in the month. We're pretty excited.

We've also lowered our prices which we're hoping a lot of you guys will be happy with. You'll be able to buy more with your coin which is only a good thing during the GFC AKA recession. More updates to come as they unfold.

time for a change

Yeah so we're changing our image. What's the best way to do this you may wonder? well we thought we'd opt for a newly designed logo. We feel it looks pretty sharp and it replaces the dated old logo we had which we were kind of bored with. Along with the new logo will come a new website and a lot of other changes. You're excited right? good you should be.
